Balance is the debut EP from Asta Hiroki - a Brighton based producer and visual artist, out on Jalapeno Records this June. Taking cues from electronica, post-Dilla hip hop, lo-fi, glitch, jazz and soul music - this collection is textural and deep with an ethereal quality that is usually found in film soundtracks. Think Teebs, Flying Lotus, Bibio and James Blake and you’re in the right area...

Asta Hiroki’s style consists of intricately programmed, syncopated drum rhythms, alternating time signatures and liberal use of orchestral instruments alongside analogue synths. And not to forget sound design that frequently incorporates field recordings and repurposed everyday sounds.

The result is a brand of intelligent and modern, soulful electronica and this debut is complemented beautifully by the unmistakable velvety vocals of Australian songstress and Belleruche (Tru Thoughts) front lady - Kathrin deBoer who contributes her unique talents to both the first and last tracks of the record.
